Sigma is the acclaimed drum and bass duo formed by Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie. Since emerging in 2007, Sigma have built a formidable reputation within the UK D&B scene and beyond, earning respect as both innovative producers and highly sought-after DJs.
Early Career & Breakthrough Releases
Sigma first gained momentum with early releases on influential labels such as Charge Recordings and Viper Recordings. Their breakthrough came with the seminal track All Blue, released on Bingo Beats, the imprint of Zinc. The track became one of DNBA’s most downloaded records of all time, firmly establishing Sigma as rising stars within the genre.
They quickly followed up with high-impact dancefloor anthems including Paint It Black and El Presidente VIP. Both tracks became staples in DJ sets worldwide, showcasing Sigma’s signature blend of heavyweight basslines, tight production, and infectious energy.
Radio Recognition & Remix Success
As their reputation grew, Sigma expanded their reach beyond club circuits. A standout career moment came with their explosive minimix for Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, where they impressively mixed 35 tracks into just five minutes — a testament to their technical skill and deep knowledge of the scene.
Sigma also demonstrated versatility through high-profile remix work. They reworked tracks for artists including:
Top Cat
Ms. Dynamite
Skepta (notably on Rescue Me, which surpassed 400,000 plays)
These collaborations reinforced Sigma’s ability to bridge drum and bass with grime, hip hop, and mainstream audiences.
Life Recordings & Industry Recognition
In addition to releasing music, Sigma launched their own label, Life Recordings, further cementing their influence within the industry. The label’s debut release, El Presidente VIP / Something Special, went on to become Nu-Urban’s highest-selling release of 2009 — a significant commercial achievement.
That same year, Sigma were honored with the Best Breakthrough DJs award at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards, recognizing their rapid ascent and growing impact on the global drum and bass circuit.
The Stand Tall EP & Major Collaborations
Entering the new decade with strong momentum, Sigma released Shut The Lights Off alongside Adam F and US hip hop legend Redman — a bold cross-genre collaboration.
They followed this with their debut for Breakbeat Kaos: The Stand Tall EP. The four-track release showcased Sigma’s diversity, from the dancefloor intensity of Front To Back (Original Sin Remix) and the anthem The Jungle, to the melodic depth of Baltimore and the vocoder-driven Stronger.
Three tracks from the EP were featured on a Ministry of Sound compilation titled Mixed… By DJ Friction, alongside Paint It Black VIP, highlighting the duo’s mainstream crossover appeal.
Another key collaboration came with DJ Fresh on the track Cylon, featured on his album Kryptonite. Supported by drum and bass heavyweights including Andy C and Goldie, Cylon further solidified Sigma’s status as leading figures in the scene.
Media Presence & Ongoing Projects
Beyond production and touring, Sigma have continued to expand their brand through digital platforms. Their Life Podcasts serve as a platform to showcase new music and spotlight other artists, with previous guests including Goldie, Original Sin, DJ Fresh, IC3, and The Nextmen.
Fans can also follow behind-the-scenes moments through Sigma’s video diary series on YouTube, offering insight into studio sessions, tours, and life on the road.
